TN&A has strong skills and experience in providing NEPA documentation for a wide variety of ecological assessments, ecological restoration, transportation, and municipal projects. Baseline studies are performed by TN&A and used as the basis for writing biological evaluations, environmental impact statements, environmental assessments, forest-wide biological investments, and environmental reports. We also compile research conducted by federal and state agencies, universities, and local scientists in the project region.

We have performed investigations and provided documentation for federal agencies as part of the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) compliance process. In conjunction with our engineering department, the Natural Resources group has developed practical project alternatives that work to avoid and minimize impacts to natural resources within project areas. Strong experience in coordinating with agencies at federal, state, and local levels ensures that all environmental commitments are fulfilled.

TN&A is fully staffed to provide comprehensive public involvement support services, including organizing meetings, and soliciting and addressing public comments. We have developed presentation materials and fact sheets for public meetings explaining complex environmental and civil issues. These materials contained project alternative and cost information, as well as project updates. We have also interviewed community members and coordinated activities between various agencies, project stakeholders, and the public.

TN&A provided baseline surveys of cultural and natural resources, infrastructure and recreation and visitor use to facilitate future planning and development of an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for the Elkmont Historic District in Great Smoky Mountains National Park. There were approximately 80 cottages, some outbuildings, and a hotel in the Elkmont Historic District, 67 of which were on the National Register of Historic Places. The TN&A team had developed a full range of project alternatives that were analyzed in detail as part of the EIS process to determine their potential direct, indirect and cumulative impacts to resources in the District and surrounding area.

TN&A provided wetland delineation and biological inventory, plans and specifications, and an estimate for the demolition of two bridges in Wisconsin. The design and planning elements of the project included performing wetland delineation and completing a biological inventory report for each site, applying for and obtaining a Chapter 30 permit and coordinating with the City of Milwaukee, Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District, and the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources to ensure a final plan that was acceptable to all agencies.
