California Air National Guard Bureau (CAARNG) Received the 2004 Secretary of the Army’s Environmental Award for environmental construction and demolition work conducted by TN&A at Camp San Luis Obispo and Camp Roberts, CA.
TN&A provides environmental construction services to clients nationwide. Services include design-build, construction, upgrade, replacement, and demolition of remediation systems, levees, UST/ASTs, and OWSs. Our staff includes construction managers, engineers, geologists, site superintendents, and licensed equipment operators.
On all projects, safety is our top priority. TN&A’s interstate EMR is 0.88, below the industry average of 1.0. We have the experience to submit and manage all environmental construction permitting including obtaining NESHAP permits and environmental and utility clearances for all projects.
At Camp San Luis Obispo, California, TN&A provided demolition, restoration; and removal services to achieve the ultimate site closure goal of 16 separate operable units. Activities included asbestos abatement, lead-based paint abatement, and the demolition and removal of 485 two-person hutments and 12 latrines resulting in 1,200 tons of building debris. TN&A completed all work within three months from mobilization to demobilization, and exceeded initial schedule expectations by three months. TN&A also removed 1,800 linear feet of concrete sidewalks recycled offsite.
TN&A completed a $1.2M Greene Lane housing demolition project in Rhode Island for the US Navy involving development and implementation of work plans and permitting requirements; asbestos and lead abatement; termination of utility connections; demolition and off-site disposal of 94 housing units including slabs and foundations; and final site restoration. Innovative cost-effective approaches included: development of engineering controls and field verification programs that allowed lead-containing building materials to be demolished-in-place. TN&A worked closely with the Navy ROICC office to coordinate minimum disruptions to the project neighbors by: coordinating T&D load out around school bus schedules; ensuring that debris piles were removed daily; developing and distributing community fact sheets detailing work schedules and equipment to be used; and using aggressive dust control measures. TN&A also prepared Air Conformity Calculations for the Navy to demonstrate that combined construction equipment and trucking emissions would be minimal.
