Using our investigation data, OTIE designed and built an innovative remediation system tailored to address three distinctive stratigraphic zones with in situ electrical resistance heating (ERH) coupled with high-vacuum dual-phase extraction and enhanced anaerobic biological treatment. Above ground, we designed a "first-of-a-kind" vapor treatment system that combined ceramic core flameless thermal oxidation with acid gas scrubbing and "tail end" carbon scrubbing to mitigate potential dioxin emissions. We operated the systems and achieved in situ remedial action objectives. USEPA Region 9 produced a video, distributed nationwide, to demonstrate success of these technologies. |
